Summary

A medieval timber framed house, dating to about 1550, which was given an elaborate brick façade and extended in the late 17th century, with 18th and 19th century alterations. The nearby barn dates from the early 18th century, probably when the house was also extended.

Timber framed house of about 1550, coated in brick and flint and extended in about 1660.
Later extensions in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Gabled porch with brick finials, 17th century oak door.
Brick pilasters with capitals, and elaborate brick recesses around windows.
West gable contained reused medieval stone blocks, possibly taken from the nearby Castle, see NHER 7679.
Large offcentre stack, which may be of earlier date than the brick façade.
Large open fireplace with traces of removed brick ovens.
Fragment of medieval carved timber visible in kitchen wall.
