A series of linear cropmarks of ditches are visible on 1976 NLA aerial photographs (S1). The origin of these features is uncertain. It has been suggested that they are old field boundaries, but there is also a possibility that they may actually be due to drainage (much of this area is drained due to the proximity to the river Stiffkey). There are two areas of cropmarks; the main area being centred at about NGR TF9371 4097, the other to the south at TF9366 4087.
