Full Description
December 1977 or January 1978.
Brick structure revealed in dredging Craymere Beck. Previously hidden by earth and bushes.
Reported to Bridewell Museum.
Visited by E. Rose (NAU), 25 January 1978.
Structure on both sides of stream, in 'modern' brick; rounded ends facing west (upstream) and at east end two triangular projections into stream. No trace of superstructure. Probably a staunch. Present depth of cutting is 5 to 6ft (1.5m to 1.8m). Informant believes it was an 18th century hydroelectric plant.
