Summary

This is the site of a medieval moat, shown on the Tithe Map of 1839 but now only visible as slight earthworks. The moat may have been the site of Sturmyns Manor, and medieval and post medieval pottery and other finds have been found within the area of the moat.

1977.
3 medieval sherds including Developed Stamford Ware found on surface.
Also 18th to 19th century sherds including Chinese export porcelain, and clay pipe.
Visited by E. Rose (NAU) 22 March 1979.

Whole moat ploughed; all sides visible but only as depressions in ploughed field.
According to [1], (S2) states this is the site of Sturmyns Manor.

1980.
Medieval sherds and late medieval/early post medieval wares, brick and tile fragments, oyster shell, inside moat found by [1].

June 2000. Visit.
Under ceral crop. No variation in crop height (Visit in 1979 showed only depressions).
