Map

Of Queen Anne date, has ashlar block in farmhouse gable.
In cottage garden on other side of road base of cross found; block is probably the shaft.

A will of 1467 refers to new cross to be placed 'by Stow Chapel'.
The church still owned land at this crossroads in the 19th century. Information from (S1).

18 October 1978. Visit.
Date of farm confirmed but no trace of cross.
East gable is brick, west gable brick and flint with brick above. No ashlar blocks and no traces of one having been removed.

(S2) gives date of the above reference to the finding of the cross as 1923. It refers only to a cottage on the slope of Stow Hill and does not mention a block set in a building. (S2) takes this to refer to the mill house, but again makes no mention of a block built into a house. There is also a reference to a steam mill in a sale of 1872.
E. Rose (NLA), 10 October 1995.
