Map

Course of pre-1830 enclosure road as described by (S1) and marked on map (S2), the road through the present village being made when it was closed. The green lane to which it joins formerly led on towards Blackborough, but it is not possible to accurately trace it from Faden owing to changes in the topography.
E. Rose (NAU) 1976.

However (S3) indicates that the story is not so straightforward. It shows the northern section of this road in use, joining on to a road running from the east side of the churchyard north to the former crossroads. The present road even further west is supposed to have been laid out in 1833 in preparation for the building of the Hall in 1835. This might be within the time between surveying and printing the 1836 Ordnance Survey, or perhaps the road order was made in 1833 but not carried out until later. It would appear therefore that the southern section of this road was closed in 1830, the upper section and the road across the hall site around 1835.
E. Rose (NAU) 22 January 1982.

Another closed road further west - see (S2).
