Summary

Swanton Morley post mill had one of the largest roundhouses in Norfolk, three storeys high. It was in use before 1795, with a steam engine installed in 1891 and later a paraffin engine in 1904. The sails and wooden top storey were dismantled in 1906, though the roundhouse survives today.

Site has been used as a bakery for 363 years. A giant brick and iron oven was specially built in 1951. The bakery closed in September 2008. The mill store is likely to be demolished, and the bakery buildings are to be converted into residential dwellings.
