Summary

In around 1983 medieval pottery and iron slag was found at this location, suggesting it had potentially been a medieval ironworking site. This may account for a local legend of 'an ancient iron foundry' near the church. Metal-detecting in 2023 recovered a Late Iron Age coin and a post-medieval jew's harp.
