Summary

No 1 is a Georgian house with five bays, two storeys and dormer windows. There are giant angle pilasters and a pedimented door. There are extensive cellars and a World War Two public air raid shelter.

Listing Description excerpt:
"18th century. Red brick, grey pantile roof. Two storeys and attic. Façade of five bays. Sashes with glazing bars. Flat rubbed brick arches over window openings. Central doorway with Tuscan pilasters and broken pediment. Half-glazed door. Brick corner pilasters. Modillion eaves cornice. Two gabled dormer windows. Parapetted gables with brick chimney stacks. Catslide and two-storey wing to north. Casement windows on north side."

Georgian house, brick, five bays, two storeys and dormers. Giant angle pilasters. Pedimented door. Adjoining on east 17th century cottages with shaped gable.

The Georgian house described above is No. 1 adjacent to the east, omitted in error from above, is No. 3 [now NHER 43073] which has an 18th-century façade of three bays on an older timber framed rear; rear wing has jowled north corner posts and six light mullioned window. The 17th-century brick cottages mentioned above are Nos. 5 and 7; these are listed as 18th century [NHERs 43074 and 43075 respectively].

Grand town mansion of around 1750 with fine staircase. Incorporates a 17th-century cottage as a rear wing. Extensive cellars, including a public air raid shelter from World War Two.
