Summary

This building is now an ironmongers but it is a 17th century house with shaped gables. It has seven bays. Only the upper storey of these bays exists over the shop front. There are wooden cross windows. The northeast corner of the building is stopped and chamfered to form an entrance to Red Lion yard along with NHER 37724.

Building in Red Lion Street at present used as Kirkham's Ironmongers. 17th century brick house with shaped gables. Seven bays (upper storey alone survives above shop) with wooden cross windows.

Listing Description excerpt:
"Mid 18th century. Colourwashed brick, steeply pitched pantile roof. Two storeys and attic. Shaped gables with chimney stacks to north and south. Remains of moulded brick string course. String course on north gable at eaves level...Modern shop front. Chamfered north-east corner with brick moulding. Two flat-roofed dormers with part-leaded glazing. Modern flat-roofed extension to west."

The north shaped gable has roll moulded platband. Most remarkable however is that the northeast corner of the building is stopped and chamfered, forming a pair with that of no 33 (NHER 37724) as an entrance to Red Lion Yard.
