Summary

A Second World War pillbox can be seen as a structure on the 1940s aerial photographs and has been recorded from field visits. The pillbox is still visible as a structure on recent (2020) aerial photographs. The pillbox is a Type 24 and is suggested to have been constructed around 1940. The pillbox is polygonal in form and is constructed from brick.

A Second World War pillbox (see above) can be seen as a structure on the 1940s aerial photographs (S2-S4). The pillbox is still visible as a structure on recent (2020) aerial photographs (S4). The pillbox has been previously suggested (see above) to relate to a Type 24 pillbox from around 1940. The pillbox is in close relation to the site of a roadblock (NHER 65619) (approximately 60m) to the north west and a further pillbox (approximately 65m) to the west (NHER 13480).
