Full Description
North of Hackford church.
Possible earthworks noted by [1] and stoneware and medieval coarse and glazed pottery found in molehill.
A. Rogerson (NAU), 1978.
Earthworks resemble slight house platforms, but a winding ditch amongst them makes writer think they may well be just drainage.
E. Rose (NAU), 7 December 1978.
September 2005.
Slight earthworks visible in pasture field, with many nettle patches. Winding ditch mentioned in 1978 not visible. Owner recalls 'dtich' being filled in by Council, and drain inserted a few years ago.
H. Paterson (A&E), 26 September 2005.
August 2011. Norfolk NMP.
The earthworks of possible medieval house platforms described above have not been identified on the consulted aerial photographs.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 10 August 2011.
January 2026. HER Enhancement: Forestry Commission Project K.
Boundary banks and ditches and an area of probable ridge and furrow are visible on as low earthworks on visualised lidar data from a survey flown in 2021 (S3). The features are likely associated with an area of medieval to post medieval settlement and agriculture. The area of probable ridge and furrow is centred at approximately TG 0592 0233.
J. Powell (Norfolk County Council Environment Service), 21 January 2026
