Summary

A series of medieval peat cuttings, which flooded in the late medieval and post medieval periods to form broads. The complex is shown on Saxton's map of 1574.

Map

Rollesby Broad, both Ormesby Broads, Filby Broad, Lily Broad, and Little Broad (Burgh Common).
Medieval peat workings; note parish boundaries and roads crossing on causeways.
The broads are separated from each other by banks of uncut peat, suggesting that they were worked independently and later linked.
