Fragments of Roman, Saxon, medieval and post medieval pottery were found on the surface of a field in 1978.

13 to 14 September 1978.
On surface of east part of field drilled for grass to be permanent pasture. Nineteen flint flakes, two Roman greyware rims, three hand made body sherds, probably Early Saxon. Two other very small possibly same, one rim probably Thetford type ware. Fifty abraded medieval to Post medieval coarse and glazed sherds, some of which could be Roman. Location of Early Saxon sherds was exactly at grid reference given and is accurately plotted on 25 inch map in file.
