Full Description
Concentration of flints found about here on surface.
42 waste flakes (grey); 23 small brown waste flakes; burnt flint.
20 dark grey flints with some evidence of edge working.
Flake 13cm long and 12cm wide at broadest, brown/yellow flint, cortext on one side, one long edge worked.
Flint adze 18cm long, about 5cm width, grey, patinated, considerable longitudinal curve, small patch of cortex.
KLM 130.1973 (originally donated 5 October 1973).
F. Healy (NAU) also notes a chipped flint axe from this site.
Probably same as 'adze' referred to above.
Grid reference corrected by finder 1980.
His catalogue gives several flints from this site (called Massingham Common) probably including above, as follows:
'Spearhead', scrapers, arrowheads, pounder, miscellaneous tools, 'Agricultural Implements', knife.
Also scrapers 'from M.Common and Washpit Farm' and scrapers 'M.Common, Keith's Farm'.
