Summary

Medieval pottery and 'refuse' were found here when a bank was removed. An earthwork survey identified two rectangular enclosures and building platforms. One of these may correspond to the Bell Inn marked at this spot on Faden's map of Norfolk dated to 1797.

1976? Roadside bank removed northeast of crossroads. Context 1 at 7381 1831.
Afterwards medieval sherds and 'domestic refuse' found.

October 1994. Earthwork Survey.
1:1000 survey of 1.5 hectares, including two toft like enclosures and building platforms near to cross roads. This may be site of 'Bell' inn (S1) but not confirmed.
Found in molehills on platforms:
2 medieval pottery sherds (unglazed body sherds).
Found in northwest corner of western enclosure:
3 medieval pottery sherds (2 body sherds of oxidised unglazed and 1 base sherd of unglazed).
Pottery identified by A. Rogerson (NLA).
