Map

Good 19th century milestone about 1m high inscribed 'To Felbrigg Hall 1 mile, Aylsham 8 miles'.
Demonstrates that overgrown track to southwest was the main entrance to park from Aylsham and Norwich.
Seen by E. Rose (NAU) 9 October 1978.

One of the surviving milestones on the route between Felbrigg Hall and Aylsham. It is located against the wall of a lodge cottage reached by a farm track, however, this was once a main entrance to Felbrigg Hall and it is likely that the milestones marked a route between the hall and the turnpike at Aylsham.

The inscription reads:
TO/FELBRIGG/HALL/1 MILE/AYLSHAM/8/MILES.

See (S1) for further information regarding this milestone.
D. Holburn (HES), 5 March 2012.
