Summary

Fragments of pottery dating from the Late Saxon to the post medieval periods found during fieldwalking. This site has been interpreted as the possible site of Rees or Rhees Manor.

Spring 1978. On ploughed surface.
Concentration of flint lumps in north to south line, several metres wide. 3 similar lines lead off to west.
Scattered around, especially to northwest, are medieval to post medieval sherds, mostly 13th/14th century.
NCM 492.978.

Autumn 1978.
1 rim 16th century lead-glazed earthenware.
8 medieval sherds, also 2 rims and 1 base.
Undated bone handle, Late Saxon? rim.

January 1979.
The Late Saxon rim now identified as medieval.
Suggested as site of Rhees Manor House in (S1).
