Summary

Excavations here in order to search for the Roman road NHER 7947 found no evidence for the road, but uncovered shallow foundations of a post medieval farmyard and a pit. The topsoil contained post medieval brick and tile.

Foundation trenches for new houses on site of former farm visited to look for evidence of Roman road NHER 7947. No such evidence. Very shallow foundations of old farm buildings; also a pit. 80cm thick black topsoil with post medieval brick and tile fragments. Blue grey boulder clay subsoil.
