Summary

An area is marked on a map from 1617 as 'Drake North'. This is an Early Saxon placename, deriving from 'dragon hoard', which may suggest that there was once a barrow on the site. If so, it may have been Bronze Age or Early Saxon in date. Unfortunately, there are no traces of a barrow on the surface.
