Summary

A pit of unknown date was observed during the construction of a pipeline in 1978. Fragments of pottery of unknown date were recovered from the pit.

November 1978. Oil pipe line observed by A. Rogerson (NAU)
Pit seen cut in west edge of pipe trench 20m west of Peddars Way and 115m north northwest of Shepherd's Bush.
Pit cut through yellow natural sand with fine gravel.
Main fill of brown sand above primary fill of very dark grey sand with charcoal.
Vertical sides, flat bottom about 95cm deep, 1.30m north northwest to south southeast.
1 dark grey indeterminate hand made body sherd from primary fill.
In fact two sherds of same description, now NCM.
