Full Description
1979. Aerial photography.
Soilmarks of rectangles conjoining, also possible hollow way running south to railway; perhaps Sygate (Southgate) DMV?
Located E. Rose (NAU) 10 January 1979.
October 2021. Aylsham and Brampton Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AIM) Project.
Previously recorded (see above) fragmentary linear banks, possibly relating to medieval-post medieval boundaries, can be seen as cropmarks on aerial photographs. It has been previously suggested (see above) that the features may relate to medieval settlement remains. The suggested hollow way (see above) may relate to a post medieval field boundary recorded on the Tithe map (S2). As the boundary is recorded in good detail on the historic map, the feature has not been mapped by this project. The features have been recorded from a very oblique aerial photograph which may have an affect the locational accuracy of the mapping.
J. Powell (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 27 October 2021.
