Summary

In 1976 of 1977 a Late Bronze Age socketed axehead, with a plain round-section socket, was recovered from an uncertain area of Snettisham. The exact location and nature of this discovery are unclear.

1976 or 1977.'In dumped soil by quarry on east side of A149 about a mile north of Snettisham'. (Is the quarry at 683 348 meant? - it is hardly 1/4 mile (400m) north, but a mile north would surely be referred to as Heacham).
Late Bronze Age socketed axe, plain, round-section socket; ridge 1.5cm below mouth. Looped, with small hole just to left. Small circular bump or boss on flat face to right of loop, this face is broken and top part missing. 10cm long, overall socket diameter 4cm, width of blade 5.25cm.
