Map

Barn. Late 18th or early 19th century. Very large and long. Chequered brickwork, with on east buttresses of black brick lined by red. To west two projecting wings, being developments of cart-porches.
Visited by E. Rose (NAU), 1 March 1979.

Listed building description (S1) dates to around 1740 and notes barn of five stead; two original arched braces to tiebeams remain. Two tiers staggered buttpurlins.
Compiled by E. Rose (NLA), 16 February 1999.

Listing is correct about the date but incorrect as to the details of the roof. Main barn is indeed of around 1740, a very grand building. Adjacent is a building of similar date constructed as part timber framed, part brick; it was reduced in the 19th century. Third building is 19th century clay lump but still using wattle and daub as well.
(S2) in file.
E. Rose (NLA), 16 May 2005.
