Summary

Three Neolithic to Beaker period flint arrowheads were found here before 1974. A flint scraper and borer are also reported from this field although the exact nature of their discovery is unclear. Fieldwalking as part of the Fenland Survey recovered concentrations of prehistoric worked and burnt flints and fragments of Iron Age, Roman and medieval pottery.

14 April 1988. Fenland fieldwalking, good conditions, weathered soil, young cereal.
Context 1.
General scatter odd flints from across field. Couple of sherds of medieval pottery and one Roman rim. Also Iron Age sherd. FW1 FF.

Context 4 at 6961 8952.
Concentration of flint sparse to moderate, couple of pot boilers, on chalk slope back from the fen. 27m east to west x 36m north to south at 8.4m OD. FWL 189.

F. Healy (NAU) also notes that NCM has a photograph of a leaf arrowhead in the Curtis Collection from this field.

Under grid reference for the centre of this field (S1) lists a scraper and two borers from the Curtis catalogue, but location is wrongly given as 'Hockwold Ordnance Survey 422'.
