Summary

Three Neolithic flint leaf arrowheads were found here before 1978. Fieldwalking as part of the Fenland Survey recovered a scatter of prehistoric worked and burnt flints and fragments of medieval pottery. A Roman penannular brooch was found on the tines of an agricultural machine. A Neolithic flint scraper and a Beaker period barbed and tanged flint arrowhead was found here in 1991.

One of these arrowheads was passed to the Range Collection, and there is a leaf arrowhead in the collection of [1] with this grid reference also.

General scatter of flint over field = Context 1 (FWL CG).

Context 2 at 6984 9164.
Scatter pot boilers and flints over area of about 20m diameter. On chalk drift plateau with some charamarl on top adjacent
to hollow. FWL CF. Also medieval sherds.

Both finds from ploughed but partially weathered soil.

1984/1985. Found on tine of agricultural machine. At unknown location in this field.
Copper alloy ornament, rectangular section, bent over terminals. Diameter about 3.4cm. Identified as Penannular brooch,
Fowler type C, 1st century BC to 2nd/3rd century AD. Compare with Colchester ornament, (S1) which is a similar size and style.
