Map

21 March 1979. Visit.
Barn; timber framed, very fine, vertical wallposts, curved corner braces, tie beams on solid arched brackets; thatched.
At one point the south wall is set further south with new beam inserted to support tie beam, yet next tie beam extends the whole width to rest upon an apparently original bracket.

Southeast portion of walling replaced in 17th century brick; rest of barn now roughcast.

19th century outbuildings on south block south cart doors, but the latter not bricked up until the 20th century.

Date of original work probably 16th century (but could be older).
E. Rose (NAU), 21 March 1979.

1985.
[1] reports thatched roof replaced with tiles on modern frame 'some years ago'. He suggests the narrower portion (two bays) is 16th century, the wider 17th century.

Application to convert to housing; modified from drawings (S1) in file.
E. Rose (NAU), 10 December 1985.
