Summary

A 16th century timber-framed former rectory, with a jettied first floor, a large central chimney and a wooden mullioned window. The interior of the house has heavily beamed ceilings and a staircase with 16th century shaped balusters, a newel post and a moulded hand rail.

Stratton St Michael, southeast of church.
Long and large 16th century timber framed house, upper storey jettied, timbering exposed. Large central chimney; roof much higher east of it than to west. Pantile roofs. One wood-mullioned upper window survives; other windows retain original sizes; one very small on ground floor. Restored.

In 1509 the incumbent left his house as a poorhouse; was this building therefore constructed at this date to replace it?

December 1959. Listed, Grade II*.
Interior has heavily moulded ceiling beams, first floor panelled screen, stairs with moulded string, shaped balusters and carved newel and moulded hand-rail about late 16th century. Ground floor fireplace with heavily moulded timber bressumer.
