Summary

The farmhouse here is a 16th or 17th century timber framed building. Two associated barns also have timber frames and date to the 17th and 18th centuries.

16th or 17th century timber framed farmhouse, single cell, inserted upper floor, barns of same date, one with queen post roof. Under restoration.

Listing Description:
Farmhouse. Early 17th century, altered late 17th century. Timber framed with rendered wattle and daub infill. Thatched roof. Through passage plan. One storey and dormer attic. Central door flanked by two 18th century casements. Further small casement to right. Flat topped pantiled dormer over door. Gabled roof with two ridge stacks, to left and right of centre. Clay lump kitchen outshut 19th century. Originally open hall house with upper floor late 17th century insertion recenitating cutting of tie beams to form door openings. Timber frame mostly intact but winder staircase removed. Brick fireplace to ground floor intact. Staggered butt purlin roof with collars.

Listing Description:
Barn. Late 17th century. Timber framed with rendered wattle and daub infill and thatched gabled roof. Two opposing doors. Heavy studs in interior. Tie beams and Queen post roof. Collars and clasped purlins with some renewed windbracing.

Barn 25m north-east of Potmere Farmhouse

Listing Description:
Barn. Early 18th century. Timber framed with partly rendered wattle and daub infill and partly weatherboarded. Thatched roof, gabled. Tie beams on arched braces with struts to staggered butt purlins. Collars.
