Full Description
Pre 1979. Curtis 32 field.
Context 2. Plano-convex knife.
Information from (S1) via F. Healy (NAU).
E. Rose (NAU) 10 April 1979.
25 October 1984. Fieldwalking, well weathered chalk soil, under cereal some of which is too high for accuracy.
Context 1, general scatter over south section of field of worked flint and undated miscellaneous pottery.
Pottery identified as Roman, Nar Valley and shell tempered; also medieval. And also Iron Age 'a little suspect'.
Flints identified by F. Healy (NAU) as Neolithic to Bronze Age.
Also fresh black gunflints (see Context 5).
Context 3. Few sherds undated pottery found in walking 100m long transect.
Pottery identified as Roman grey ware.
Context 4. Few odd fragments undated pottery in limited area on chalk slope.
Pottery identified as Roman Nar Valley, shell tempered, oxydised.
Context 5. Waste from gunflint manufacture spread over area about 27m east to west x 25m north to south.
Identified by J.J. Wymer (NAU) and R. Silvester (NAU) 25 October 1984.

At [1] cropmark of ring ditch, 25 to 30m in diameter.
No suggestion of a break; no detectable height.
On a gentle rise at 50ft OD.
Noted by Ordnance Survey. Not on NAU photographs.
