Full Description
Site of wind mill marked on (S1).
E. Rose (NAU) 1 June 1979.
Mill Lane mill.
Post mill, replaced by another 1821.
Last worked by wind 1880, steam mill 1883 to 1888.
E. Rose (NAU) 2 February 1982.
September 2025. Northwest Norfolk Aerial Investigation and Mapping (AI&M) Project.
A small, regularly shaped ring ditch visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs taken in 1946 (S2) probably marks the site of the post medieval windmill(s) described above. As no windmill is depicted here on either the Tithe Map (S3) or the Ordnance Survey 1st edition 6 inch map (S4), it is not possible to confirm the existence or location of the reported replacement mill. The Monument Polygon defining the site has been updated to reflect the location and extent of the ring ditch.
S. Tremlett (Norfolk Historic Environment Service), 10 September 2025.
