Summary

A windmill is depicted at this approximate location on Faden’s 1797 Map of Norfolk. A small ring ditch visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs taken in 1946 probably marks the site of the former windmill. The windmill was reportedly replaced in 1821 and converted to a steam mill in the 1880s.

A small, regularly shaped ring ditch visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs taken in 1946 (S2) probably marks the site of the post medieval windmill(s) described above. As no windmill is depicted here on either the Tithe Map (S3) or the Ordnance Survey 1st edition 6 inch map (S4), it is not possible to confirm the existence or location of the reported replacement mill. The Monument Polygon defining the site has been updated to reflect the location and extent of the ring ditch.
