Summary

During the 1970s three post medieval architectural mouldings and post medieval bricks were found. They may have come from The Hall (NHER 5574) which was located to the east. This building was badly damaged by fire in 1955 and the buiding material could have been dumped at this site soon afterwards.

Map

1970s. West end of Garboldisham Manor Park. Circumstances of find unknown.
Three pieces of ovolu moulding in some sort of artifical stone with flint inclusions. Bricks also reported but not seen.
Identified by E. Rose (NAU), 11 July 1979.
The form of the moulding suggests an early 18th century date, and is probably from the Queen Anne sections of The Hall (site NHER 5574) to east, which was mostly burnt down in 1955; the material may have been dumped here afterwards.
It is highly unlikely that it comes from Garboldisham Manor, also largely demolished, which was a late 19th century building (NHER 5578).
E. Rose (NAU), 11 July 1979.
