Summary

A hall is depicted in this location on Faden's map of 1797. It is possible that this could be the site of a hall, although it is more likely that Faden is referring to Hall Farm, a nearby 17th century hall, see NHER 21005.

Location

Map sheet TG03NW
Civil Parish GUNTHORPE, NORTH NORFOLK, NORFOLK

Map

West of church. Possible site of old hall?
On this spot (S1) has a little drawing of a house, his symbol for a 'seat of the gentry'.
Nothing on (S2).
It could however have been a large rectory.
E. Rose (NAU) 6 September 1979.

13 November 1979. Visited by E. Rose (NAU)
No trace in ploughed field; only the old pit marked on Ordnance Survey.

Although (S1) does depict a hall at this location, it is likely that the symbol is intended to represent Hall Farm, a 17th century hall and farm complex to the west of this location, NHER 21005.
S. Spooner (NLA) 23 January 2006
