Summary

According to documentary sources this is the location where Thomas Shuckforth, a local gentleman, was buried in 1761. The tomb was aligned east-west and had numerous statues and carvings within its enclosure, including angels on pillars. It is believed that Shuckforth was relocated to the local churchyard in the early 20th century and no trace of his tomb now remains.
