Summary

Topsoil stripping here in 1979 as part of the Bowthorpe Development unearthed a flint well. The well contained 14th century pottery sherds in the fill and was likely abandoned owing to the faulty construction. Investigation of the ground surface around the well also discovered several medieval coins including a silver penny of Edward I.
