Full Description
August 1979. Stray Find.
Picked up on surface of allotment next to East Winch Common by [1]:
1 Palaeolithic small flint handaxe, 9cm long. Donated to King's Lynn Museum (KILLM : 1979.187). See copy of traced outline (S1) (on copy of King's Lynn Museum record card). Information from (S2).
This discovery was reported in (S3). Also noted on (S4) and in (S5), (S6) and (S7), although these give little additional information.
Wymer (S6) notes that East Winch common has well preserved glacial pingos, the freshness of which dates them to the Devensian Stage (the last glacial period).
Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 29 November 2013.
