Map

October 1979. At low water mark of lowest tides, seventy paces beyond the first breakwater northwest of the new ramp.
Culverin or small cannon; rounded butt with loop and touch holes.
Length about 0.75m, bore about 100mm.
Information from M. Warren, Cromer Museum.
E. Rose (NAU), 10 October 1979.

22 October 1979.
Site corrected on the ground by E. Rose (NAU).
Despite low tide forecast, high winds made it impossible to reach object, which is beyond the ends of the groynes.

According to (S1) there was a gun fort at Mundesley in 1804 – nothing known of the location – could this be connected?
E. Rose (NLA), 18 January 2007.
