Summary

A cropmark of a possible Bronze Age ring ditch can be seen on an aerial photograph. Metal detecting here has recovered a wide range of finds dating from the Roman to the post medieval period. The number of finds dating from the Early Saxon period and the presence of human bone on the site identify this as an Early Saxon inhumation cemetery. The Early Saxon finds include brooches, a spearhead, a shield boss and lumps of molten metal. One of the fragments of brooches is a terminal from a penannular brooch.
