Summary

Prehistoric flints, fragments of pottery dating from the Roman, Late Saxon, medieval and post medieval pottery, a medieval quern and post medieval clay pipes found during fieldwalking.

27 March 1979. Found in fieldwalking Narborough bypass line. On ploughed field surface.
1 waisted, 1 denticulate flint tool, distinctively late Neolithic/Bronze Age.
Also 6 burnt flints, scraper, notch, 17 flakes, odd battered pieces.
3 Roman greyware rims, 1 Thetford type rim, 14 glazed Grimston sherds.
7 stoneware, 10 post medieval; dark grey sherd with light reddish brown exterior and flint gritting, also 13 grey bodysherds, all undated.
Lava quern fragment.
Indeterminate or modern glass, iron, clay pipes.
