Full Description
16 November 1979. Visit. Tithe Barn.
Flint and reused stone with brick slit windows, large cart doors blocked on east to form modern entrance. Excellent roof with two tiers of queen posts rising from tie beams on arched braces. Date is uncertain. Presumably postdates the rectory
(Old Hall) of 1525. When did this become the rectory? Perhaps late 16th/early 17th century. Note west cart door is now blocked by garden wall.
E. Rose (NAU).
(S1) dates barn to 17th century but says roof may be older!
See (S2) in file.
E. Rose (NAU), 19 December 1984.
