Summary

The site of this post mill is marked on Faden's 1797 map as a drainage mill. This is probably an error as all subsequent references refer to a post mill.

Protected Status/Designation

  • None recorded

Location

Map sheet TM49SW
Civil Parish GILLINGHAM, SOUTH NORFOLK, NORFOLK

Map

Site of drainage mill. Marked on (S1).
E. Rose (NAU), 19 December 1979.

Grid reference made more accurate from (S2).

(S1) is the only map to mark this as a drainage mill. This is probably an error as all other information indicates that this was a corn mill. The Gillingham tithe map (S3) depicts a post mill on the site however it had disappeared by the late 19th century (S4).
A. Yardy (HES), 24 October 2011.
