Full Description
Pre 1975. Stray Find.
This field is one of several in Wiveton that formed the lands of Church Farm in 1977. Prior to this date the farmer [1] had collected 38 Neolithic flaked and polished flint axeheads from these fields, although unfortunately the exact provenance of these objects was not recorded. See NHER 60094 and (S1) for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 6 July 2014.
1975-1976. Fieldwalking.
Gravel Pit Field (finder's Field 123).
Fieldwalked by [2] as part of a larger survey of the lands of Church Farm, Wiveton.
113 worked flints recovered, including 2 end scrapers, 1 side scraper and 3 single-platform cores.
Although the bulk of the material collected was believed to be Neolithic it is noted that one of the cores is of similar form to Mesolithic microblade core.
See (S1) for further details, in which the scrapers and the blade core are illustrated.
