Summary

During the 1970s, three medieval coarse ware sherds and a tubular object made from animal bone were found in this area. Subsequently in 1982, a large broken rectangular iron object was found. This was felt to be some sort of chopper but no date was assigned to it.

Three medieval coarse ware sherds and tubular object of animal bone with two sawn ends and hollowed out core.
Found by S. Ashley (NAU).
Identified by A. Rogerson (NAU) January 1980.

1982.
Large broken rectangular iron object with tang parallel to side springing from top corner - chopper of some sort? (could be modern). Also end of cigar shaped hone, probably modern.
Found in areas Context 2 and Context 1 amongst spread of recent rubbish.
Finds held by NCM.
Grid reference and parish corrected.
