Full Description
31 January 1980. Visited by E. Rose (NAU).
Lime kiln.
At north end of pit with entrance in wall of carrstone. Traces of wooden door. The interior of the passage is largely of
carrstone and clunch, the latter remarkable - why did the heat not affect it? The bell has its lime sluices edged in modern brick showing a recent date of use though pit is overgrown - perhaps up to 1930s. The interior of the bell is tapering instead of the usual egg cup and is free of rubbish, though sprouting Hartstongue. There is a ridge around the bell exterior in the passage. Tulieres rise straight from the junction of passage roof and walls instead of having an L-shape as normal.
Still in good condition 1992
