Summary

This two-storey timber-framed building is of 16th-century date with later alterations. The southern section is wholly timber-framed with some brick and has a carved jetty bressumer and a close studded first floor. The north part is brick cased.

Jettied timber framed building, exposed at first floor with carved bressumer. Brick ground floor wall on flint plinth. Large rebuilt chimney. 16th century.

Revised listing 1994 (S2) states main bridging beam in No 2 Damgate Street, south of stack, has two orders or roll mouldings and bars; similar south wallplate north of stack, double wave-moulded bridging beam. Former north gable wall has visible timber framing at first floor. The building known as No 1 and No 3 Church Street [NHER 65493] is physically part of this
building, with one double wave moulded bridging beam on ground floor, and 17th-century timber framed range behind 19th-century brick skin along Church Street.

"Shop and flat. 16th century with later alterations incorporating into range with 1 Church Street [NHER 65493]. Timber-framed and brick. Roof of black glazed pantiles. Two storeys. South part wholly timber-framed with some brick...Carved jetty bressumer with three orders of roll mouldings and two planes of staggered bars. First floor close studded…
North part brick cased. Plank door…five-light early 19th-century casement to first floor, the left and right metal lights opening. Gabled roof with an 18th-century ridge stack. Rear with two gabled dormers in roof and various brick and pantiled outshut extensions.
INTERIOR. Main ground-floor bridging beam to south of stack with two orders of roll mouldings and bars. Similar south wall plate. Double wave-moulded bridging beam north of stack. Former north gable wall timber-framed at first floor. Roof boarded but much renewed."
