Summary

Several medieval pottery sherds were found during cursory fieldwalking at this location in 1980. Subsequent metal-detecting between 2004 and 2024 recovered Late Prehistoric, Early Neolithic, Neolithic and potentially Bronze Age worked flints; Iron Age, Roman, Early Saxon, Late Saxon, medieval, medieval/post-medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; an undated copper alloy casting jet; Roman and post-medieval coins; medieval and post-medieval jettons and a range of other Roman to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include a Roman brooch; a Middle Saxon pinhead; a Late Saxon strap end; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval horse-harness pendant, thimble or sewing ring and copper alloy seal matrix; a medieval/post-medieval purse frame fragment and a post-medieval copper alloy seal matrix, pewter vessel lid and lead cloth seal.
