Summary

Metal detecting and fieldwalking in this area during the period 1979-96 recovered a diverse range of finds. These included a medieval brooch decorated with a barleysugar twist, a Neolithic flint sickle blade and a medieval German coin of Bishop Conrad of Utrecht (1076-1099).

?1979. Metal detecting.
Bronze circular brooch with pin, half plain, half decorated with barleysugar twist. Probably 12th-13th century.
Held by Thetford Museum (donated 25 January 1980).
This first find is now said by finder to come from NHER 5757 instead - q.v.

1983. Stray Find.
Same approximate site.
Neolithic flint sickle measuring 12.2cm in length. Grey/black flint in very fresh condition. Very faint patina on surface. Distinct 'sickle gloss' along straighter edge.

1985. Found with metal detector.
Denar of Bishop Conrad of Utrecht 1076-1099 struck at Deventer H Dannenberg, Die Deutsche Munzen der Sachsischen und Frankischen Kaiserzeit Berlin 1876 224 no 575.

1996. Fieldwalking. Location is approximate, as finder gives grid reference as location [1] which falls within the factory building, but describes the site as 'Behind Tulip International Factory'.
Worked flints including a flake, retouched flakes, a scraper and a possible fabricator.
