Summary

Metal detecting in 1970 recovered a medieval copper alloy seal, decorated with a lion and the legend in French for 'the lion sleeps, do not wake him'. Roman, Saxon, medieval and post medieval pottery fragments have also been found in the area.

1970. Metal detecting. Bronze circular seal.
Central device shows a lion with the tail curled up underneath it.
The legend reads + LE LION DORT NE LUI EIVEILET (the lion sleeps do not wake him up). 13th to 14th century.
Identified by British Museum (Medieval and Later Archaeology).

Finds said by informant on 25 June 1978 to have been identified by A. Rogerson (NAU), and given to NCM in 1978.

Spring 1982.
After ploughing, two medieval unglazed sherds and one 16th century green glazed sherd.
