Summary

Foundations of an undated building were found in electricity trenches. The foundations jutted out into the street and suggested that the entrance to Common Place used to be much narrower. A fragment of late medieval tile was found.

March 1980. In electricity trenches. Between High Street and Common Place.
Foundations of building reported in electricity trenches, jutting out into street and indicating a formerly much narrower entrance to the Common Place. One fragment of roof tile, late medieval? M. Warren (Walsingham Museum) comments that although he did not watch the trenches closely enough to confirm or deny this report, he had been under the impression that they had been cut through made up ground.
