20 April 1980. 26 Knight Street.
Small flint and brick two storeyed house, apparently 18th century, but with recessed centre to its facade just as if it were a Wealden house clad in flint. Northwest quoins of reused stone. [1] states facade covers only a small proportion of the width of a larger house behind. From the interior, the reason for the recessed facade cannot be seen. There are carved beams and a 16th? century screen but latter is obviously reset as it crosses earlier mortise holes.
E. Rose (NAU), 26 March 1982.
